Warren firm’s new blood-typing test relies on genetic analysis for more specific results
A new test that uses genetic analysis to more accurately determine a person’s blood type has been developed by a New Jersey biotechnology company that is now ramping up commercial production and marketing of its novel PreciseType test to the health care sector.
PreciseType was invented at BioArray Solutions in Warren, a subsidiary of Georgia-based Immucor Inc. Approved by the Food and Drug Administration last May, the new blood-typing test is increasingly being used by health care systems and blood banks to more accurately match a patient who needs a blood transfusion with the right donor.
