As markets rally off of recent lows, GenTrust’s Head of Asset Allocation Matt Kishlansky likened the emotional phases investors endured to the “5 classic stages of grief” model.

In an interview with Yahoo Finance, he traces the progression from denial when the Fed signaled higher interest rates, through subsequent market turmoil like the Magnificent Seven selloff. Now with the Fed tentatively pausing rates and recession fears still looming, Kishlansky questions whether equity markets and investors are headed to the fourth stage: depression.
