Yields pause their climb as investors weigh possibility of smaller rate increases

U.S. stocks finished the week with strong gains, as investors weighed the possibility of a slower pace of interest rate increases and the latest batch of corporate results.

The S&P 500 rose 2.4%, with gains accelerating midday. The technology-focused Nasdaq Composite added about 2.3% and the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 2.5% about 749 points.
