GenTrust to Expand Wealth Management Footprint to Puerto Rico

GenTrust is expanding operations in Puerto Rico with a new office in San Juan, the company says.
The new office will be led by Elena Hernández, principal of GenTrust Puerto Rico, who was born and raised on the island, according to a press release from the firm. GenTrust has been working with Puerto Rican institutions and clients for more than two decades already, so “[i]t was natural for us to open an office in Puerto Rico given our thorough understanding of the economic and developmental needs of the region,” George Pérez, GenTrust’s founding principal, says in a press release.
“We are focused on being fiduciaries to our clients, a responsibility that we believe has been long overdue in the island’s investment community. We are thrilled about expanding beyond our New York and Miami offices,” he says.
The company plans to hire financial advisors and support staff from the island for the new office, according to the press release.
GenTrust, which specializes in customized advice for individuals, families, family offices and institutions, oversees $16.8 billion in assets for just 19 accounts, according to its latest Form ADV.
“We believe we are uniquely qualified to help the Puerto Rican entrepreneur, investor, individual, family and institution preserve and grow their wealth,” Hernández says in the press release.
