Aquatic Centre of the London 2012 Olympics

For over seven years, Adrian Balfour and his P-cubed organization have been working in tandem with the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) to bring to life the site of this year’s Olympics. In conceptualizing themes for the Olympic site, the topic of sustainability was brought up. It was decided that the Aquatic Centre would include such elements. Built using recyled materials, the Aquatic Centre is the first ever to introduce water-recycling capabilities, thus increasing water efficiency and sustaining the amount of water used overall. The March edition of AQUA Magazine proudly features the site and Adrian’s thoughts on approaching the project, and the legacy and lessons that will remain after the conclusion of the Games.
